What we have done

Mount Agung, Indonesia

Volcano Eruption

On 22 September 2017, Mount Agung erupted. By 25 September, more than 63,000 people have been evacuated. But on 22 September, Fund the Future was already at the airport, waiting for the flight to Indonesia.

More than 2000 Fund the Future members and 6000 others from other organisations arrived in Bali on 23 September. We provided temporary shelters, food and water for the survivors of the eruption.

In the course of 3 weeks, we rebuilt 40 homes for the survivors. Not only were we able to help the survivors, we were also able to get to know the organisations that were apart of the project.

However, this could not have been achieved without you. In this 3 weeks, you helped raised over 1 million dollars which funded the materials for our 40 homes, food, water and temporary shelters.

Lanao del Sur, Philippines

On December 2016, 500 members from Fund the Future went to a mission trip in Lanao del Sur, a rural part of Philippines.

When we were there, poverty was normal, very unlike Singapore, where you rarely see. This opened up our eyes as this people were surviving on so little resources but yet in Singapore, we complain even though we have more than enough.

We didn't go there to distribute food or water. Someone once said "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for life." We went there with this mindset. We wanted to educated the people there so as to mitigate their suffering.

In our mission trip, our main focus was to teach them how to get clean water. In Lanao del Sur, clean water is hard to get, as it does not have the proper infrastructure to send clean water to each and every house.

All in all, it was definitely an eye-opening learning experience for all of us and especially the youths who which this was their first mission trip.
